1. Global Pearl Enterprise Innovation Brand Rankings

Criteria for Global Pearl Brand Rankings

There are multiple criteria for judging global pearl brands, and various organizations have conducted numerous rankings. Considering the authority of these rankings, the 2020 Hurun Global Pearl Enterprise Innovation Brand Rankings were selected to understand the brand influence of global pearl enterprises in recent years. Since the rankings are time-sensitive, they cannot fully represent the current pearl industry landscape and are for reference only. The rankings are based on four dimensions: brand strategy, business operations, technical strength, and sustainable development. Some companies that excel in specific areas may not appear on the list.

Global Top 50 List Overview

Among the Top 50 list, there are:

  • 24 companies from China
  • 9 companies from Japan
  • 7 companies from the United States
  • 5 companies from Australia
  • 1 company each from Switzerland, France, the UK, Canada, and the Philippines

Mikimoto and Tasaki from Japan rank in the global top two.
5 Chinese pearl companies are in the Top 10, while 15 Zhejiang Zhujie pearl enterprises make it into the Top 50, including 3 companies in the Top 10: Xinshi Pearls, Qianzu Pearls, and Aidi Sheng Pearls.

2. Paspaley

  • Founded by Nicholas Paspaley Sr. in the 1930s, Paspaley is an iconic Australian pearl brand with over 70 years of heritage. The Paspaley family operates 22 pearl farms spanning over 2000 kilometers of Australia’s northern coastline, producing more than 85% of the world’s South Sea pearls (known as Australia’s White Pearls).
  • Paspaley’s core strength lies in the exceptional luster, vibrant colors, and large sizes of its South Sea pearls. The brand is known for its mother-of-pearl seeding vessels, which conduct on-site nucleation. Their farming techniques, influenced by Japan, have ensured over 50 years of collaboration with Japanese enterprises to maintain quality standards.
  • In terms of sustainability, Paspaley holds the third-party certification from the Marine Stewardship Council, making it an industry model for environmental protection.
  • Paspaley’s pearls are available exclusively in flagship stores located in Sydney, Darwin, Broome, and Dubai. Currently, there are no stores in China.
  • Signature Design: The “Lust” Collection of pearl pendants.

3. Ruans Pearls

  • Founded in 1988, Ruans Pearls (阮仕珍珠首饰有限公司) is a renowned Chinese pearl brand headquartered in Zhuji, Zhejiang. The company integrates pearl farming, processing, design, and sales and is acclaimed for its high-quality pearls and refined craftsmanship. It was designated as a “National Gift” brand in 2011, featured at the 2016 G20 Summit, and the 2017 BRICS Summit.
  • Ruans Pearls is also a chairman member of the Daxidi Black Pearl Association, with sourcing rights covering regions like the Philippines, Indonesia, and Australia.
  • Since 2018, Ruans Pearls has transformed into an online retailer, partnering with platforms like Tmall and influencers for marketing.
  • Signature Design: The “Floral Radiance” Collection.

4. Mikimoto

  • Founded by Kokichi Mikimoto in 1893, Mikimoto is a globally acclaimed Japanese pearl brand. Kokichi Mikimoto is hailed as the pioneer of cultured pearl techniques, revolutionizing the pearl industry by making pearls accessible to the masses.
  • Mikimoto is also known as the official pearl jeweler of the Japanese Imperial family. The brand’s spirit lies in enhancing women’s beauty with pearls. Its pearl necklaces are renowned for their “Single Strand of Light”, symbolizing elegance and grace.
  • Mikimoto operates brick-and-mortar stores in cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, Shenzhen, and more. It does not offer online shopping.
  • Signature Design: The Mikimoto M Collection.

5. TASAKI

  • Established in 1954, TASAKI is a renowned Japanese high-end jewelry brand. It cultivates pearls in locations such as Kujukushima and Ago Bay in Japan and the Andaman Sea in the Indian Ocean. TASAKI ensures strict quality control throughout the process of farming, selecting, and processing pearls to create exceptional jewelry.
  • TASAKI uses untreated pearls with naturally beautiful shapes, cultivated by skilled professionals in coastal Japan.
  • TASAKI’s design philosophy focuses on the balance between pearls and diamonds. The iconic Balance Collection reflects this idea by arranging pearls on a slender metal rod, achieving a visually harmonious aesthetic.
  • TASAKI has stores worldwide, including major Chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. Customers can also purchase through Tmall’s flagship store.
  • Signature Design: The Balance Collection.
